The RF Group is pleased to announce that it has acquired Schroders’ 50.1% equity interest in Schroders RF Limited, taking full ownership of the business. Concurrently, RF Group has entered into binding arrangements to divest a 49.9% interest in the business to the Asia strategy of Avenue Capital Group (Avenue). This milestone transaction represents the formation of a significant cross-border partnership that brings together a leading Australian real estate credit platform with one of the most experienced global investment firms. The partnership is expected to accelerate the growth of Schroders RF Limited by combining Avenue’s institutional scale and global credit expertise with RF Group’s strong local operating capabilities and credit origination network.
The investment by Avenue will support the continued expansion of Schroders RF’s real estate credit platform, with a particular emphasis on real estate debt and asset backed lending opportunities in Australia’s mid-market and traditionally underserved segments. The transaction signals growing international appetite for Australian private credit as an asset class and is expected to catalyse deeper institutional capital flows into the sector.
RF Group considers the partnership with Avenue to be a major strategic milestone for the business. The firm views Avenue’s global experience, long-term capital commitment, and institutional perspective as complementary to RF Group’s local expertise, disciplined credit structuring, and established presence in the Australian market. Together, the parties intend to scale the platform while maintaining alignment with borrowers and investors.
Until a formal rebrand is completed, the business will continue operating under the Schroders RF name pursuant to a transitional licence agreement with the Schroders Group.
The platform will remain under the leadership of Nicole Kidd, who has served as Head of Private Debt, APAC at Schroders Capital since 2023 and now transitions full-time into her role as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of the business. Nicole will continue to provide strategic leadership and investment oversight through the next phase of growth.
Completion of Avenue’s investment remains subject to regulatory approval by the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) in Australia.
